"burn all the maps to your body" r.b.

i read brautigan's "an unfortunate woman: a journey" over the last couple days and today i learned that he shot himself in the head before this book was ever published. maybe this is disturbing to me because my sister killed herself or maybe because the book itself was about suicide, or more specifically, mentions the suicide of a woman he may have known. either way, it was terribly sad because i felt an immense fondness for him while reading his meandering thoughts and experiences. also, he was very funny- i laughed out loud several times while reading his book particularly at a point in the beginning where he digresses into a rambling about telling his fellow passengers on a train that it is his 47th birthday and them imagining a news headline such as, "train held hostage by man celebrating birthday." its all very hard to explain .. but somehow, i'll miss him.
